a) By road
The nearest Indian airport is in Bagdogra, which can be reached by plane from Kolkata and Delhi. The road from Bagdogra connects to Phuentsholing, a border town in Bhutan. It is a 3-4 hour drive from the airport.
It takes approximately six hours from Phuentsholing to Thimphu or Paro.
b) By Air
Bhutan’s national air carrier, Royal Druk Air, operates flights from Thailand (Bangkok), India (Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Gaya, Bagdogra, Guwahati), Bangladesh (Dhaka), Nepal (Kathmandu), and Singapore (Changi). The airport is about half an hour to forty-five minutes drive from the capital city, Thimphu.
